La Zebra Beach Cantina & Cabanas opens in Tulum, Mexico

The owner of Tulum, Mexico's popular Mezzanine hotel has opened La Zebra Beach Cantina & Cabanas in Tulum; the property, a 10-cabana beach property, promises a "rustic, jungle-chic" experience two hours south of Cancun, Mexico.

La Zebra is owned by John Kendall, an Australian who also owns Tulum's Euro-chic Mezzanine hotel.

"At La Zebra, you feel that you're actually experiencing Tulum before all the development, with a simplistic, rustic and slightly whimsical flavor," Kendall said.

Amenities include king beds draped with mosquito nets, overhead fans, a complimentary bottle of tequila and wireless Internet access. The resort's Mexican-style cantina serves traditional home-style cooking.

Rates start at $100 a night. For information or reservations, visit www.lazebra.com.mx.
