London's first hotel under Hilton's Waldorf Astoria luxury
brand will be redeveloped out of the city's iconic Admiralty Arch building,
which once housed the offices of James Bond creator Ian Fleming.
The Admiralty Arch Waldorf Astoria London, expected to open
in 2022, will have 96 rooms and three restaurants. The hotel will afford guests
views of Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square. The hotel will have a spa and
a rooftop bar.
Built in 1910, the building was designed by Aston Webb, who
designed Buckingham Palace's main facade. Admiralty Arch has served as wartime intelligence
offices, residences of senior naval officers and Ian Fleming's offices.
"Admiralty Arch Waldorf Astoria London will be one of
London's most prestigious addresses, literally at the entrance to the Mall and
Buckingham Palace," Hilton CEO Christopher Nassetta said during the
company's earnings call Thursday morning.
