NH Hotels tests 'nhube' concept in Europe

MADRID -- NH Hotels, a chain of business hotels in Europe, is testing a concept that takes the room out of room service.

The concept is called "nhube" (pronounced 'new-bay'). Essentially it is a "multi/functional" common area, hotel restaurant concept where guests can eat, drink, relax, surf the Internet and chat with other guests.

NH Hotels recently introduced nhube at its NH Balboa property in Madrid. Soon after, room service orders declined while restaurant sales jumped nearly 21%. NH Hotels intends to bring the nhube concept to 26 of its hotels over the next two years.
