Pod hotel coming to D.C.: Travel Weekly

Micro-suite specialist Pod Hotel plans to open a 245-room hotel in Washington, D.C., next year.

Pod D.C. will be located in the city's Chinatown, which is within the Penn Quarter district. The new hotel will include 12,000 square feet of food-and-beverage space as well as its inventory of rooms with queen and bunk beds.

Modus Hotels will build and manage the property. Modus' other Washington hotels include the Quincy, the Normandy and George Washington University Inn.

The first Pod hotel (Pod 51) opened on East 51st Street in Manhattan in 2007. A second New York property, Pod 39, opened in 2012 on East 39th Street.

A Pod hotel in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood is slated to open next year.
