Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide
revealed plans to open a Le Meridien-branded hotel, its first since
acquiring the luxury hotel chain last November.
According to
Starwood, the 360-room Park Hyatt Hotel will be reflagged as a Le
Meridien hotel. Merritt Hospitality, a division of HEI Hospitality,
which owns the property, will manage the hotel.
HEI Hospitality
plans to invest $10 million renovating the property.
This is an
exceptionally beautiful and well-designed property, said Sileshi
Mengiste, the hotels general manager in a statement. In time we
will make subtle changes in decor, primarily in the bar and lounge
areas, the restaurant, and eventually in the guest
rooms.
In March, Starwood
completed a project that fully in integrated the Le Meridien brand
into its reservations, loyalty, distribution and sales
infrastructure.
Starwood said
members of Moments, Le Meridiens loyalty program now have access to
its entire global network consisting of Starwoods eight brands --
St. Regis, the Luxury Collection, Sheraton, Westin, Four Points by
Sheraton, W hotels, Le Meridien and Aloft (expected to launch in
2007) -- and 825 hotels in more than 95 countries.
