Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ W lifestyle brand debuted in the Netherlands on Thursday when the W Amsterdam’s guestrooms opened in a portion of the hotel that was originally the city’s Telephone Exchange building.

The hotel, which is owned by Europe Hotels I Private Collection, has opened 172 rooms in the building, which includes a rooftop check-in area and the city’s first rooftop pool deck.

The W will also encompass what was originally the KAS Bank building across the street. That building’s 66 rooms will come online by early next year.

The hotel is within walking distance of Dam Square and the Royal Place and includes two 2,000-square-foot Extreme Wow Suites and almost 5,000 square feet of meetings space.
