The Wyndham Hotel Group has decided to
affiliate its mid-market Wingate properties with its upscale
Wyndham hotel brand. To that end, the Wyndham Hotel Group gave
Wingate a new moniker: Wingate by Wyndham. Wingate's Web site [www.wingatehotels.com] also has been updated with a
new logo reflecting the name change.
According to
Wyndham, all franchises located in the U.S. and Canada will be
required to display the new Wingate by Wyndham logo by the end of
this year.
The Wyndham Hotel
Group said the affiliation, which was announced in Rio Grande,
Puerto Rico, during the Wingate franchisee conference at Wyndham's
recently opened Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa, creates a combined
brand that encompasses more than 230 hotels.
"Geographically,
the brands complement each other with Wyndham properties primarily
in resort and center-city locations and Wingate hotels largely in
secondary markets," explained Steven Rudnitsky, Wyndham Hotel Group
president and CEO, in a statement.
"The Wyndham name
provides the Wingate brand with increased consumer awareness.
Conversely, the Wingate brand offers the Wyndham brand an
established counterpart in the midscale-without-food-and-beverage
segment," he added.
In line with its
new Wyndham affiliation, the Wingate brand will adopt several
Wyndham amenities, such as Michael Graves-designed MP3 clock radios
and single-cup coffee makers. Also, Wingate employees will undergo
Wyndham's One-to-One training program, which focuses on
personalization and guest satisfaction.
Wyndham Hotel
Group encompasses more than 6,400 franchised hotels with over
535,000 hotel rooms worldwide.
