Google buys Zagat: Travel Weekly

Google has acquired restaurant-review publisher Zagat Survey for an undisclosed amount.

"Moving forward, Zagat will be a cornerstone of our local offering," said Marissa Mayer, Google's vice president of local, maps and location services.

In a note on Zagat’s website, founders Tim and Nina Zagat said they were "thrilled to see our baby placed in such good hands and to start today as official 'Googlers.'"

The Zagats, who established their company in 1979, said they would "remain active in the business as co-chairs."
