Former Silversea CEO Amerigo Perasso has been appointed CEO of Abercrombie & Kent Group, replacing company founder Geoffrey Kent, the company announced today.
Perasso takes over the role from Kent following completion of an investment in the company by Silversea Executive Chairman Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio's Heritage Group.
Kent and Lefebvre will become co-chairmen.
Lefebvre and Kent announced in February they were buying the company back from troubled Chinese real estate company Zhonghong Holdings Group, with Lefebvre's Heritage Group purchasing an 85% share. Kent owns the remainder.
At the time, the two said Kent would continue as chairman and CEO of the operating company, while Lefebvre would assume the role of chairman of Abercrombie & Kent Holding.
As co-chairmen, Kent said he and Lefebvre would be "working together to translate our shared vision for the future into concrete strategies that will allow A&K to reach our goals in the next phase of development, building on seven years of double-digit growth."
Perasso, he said, would work closely with the board to implement that vision. "He brings substantial operating expertise in luxury leisure travel and cruising to our organization," Kent said.
A business lawyer, Perasso spent 14 years at Silversea, holding various positions prior to becoming CEO and helping to build the company into a market leader in luxury cruising. He left Silversea in 2010. More recently, he served as an advisor on mergers and acquisitions to investment funds and private investors.
One of the world's leading luxury and adventure travel companies, A&K was founded by Geoffrey Kent and his parents in 1962 as a safari outfitter. It now operates in more than 100 countries on all seven continents.
