Apple Leisure Group Vacations is offering a new insurance
plan, Travel Protection Plus, which provides commission protection to travel
advisors and a number of benefits for consumers traveling with any of its
brands.
The insurance is underwritten by Nationwide Mutual Insurance
Co. It includes coverage for trip interruption, travel delay, baggage loss,
emergency evacuation, medical expenses and travel accidents. The policy also
includes a hurricane travel credit, refunding unused or interrupted nights for hurricanes
Category 1 or stronger as well as a price guarantee. It also includes
pre-departure penalty waiver components "designed to assist travel advisor
partners and eliminate clients’ booking hesitation," Apple said.
Travelers can purchase a non-insurance waiver enabling them
to cancel their trip for any reason.
Travel advisors' commission is protected under the policy
for up to $100 per room on reservations including air, land-only packages and
Exclusive Nonstop Vacation Flights.
Travel Protection Plus is offered on a tiered pricing
structure that starts at $79.99 per adult. Children 12 and under can be insured
for half the adult price. Premiums will be a maximum of $169.99 for packages priced
at $3,000 or more per passenger.
