SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- David Anderson, owner of David Anderson's Safaris and Luxury Adventures Ltd., was sentenced under the California Sellers of Travel Law Nov. 4 to 117 days time served in the county jail, plus five years probation with terms and conditions, and the restitution of more than $230,000 owed to customers.

Anderson pleaded guilty last June to 32 counts of failing to make refunds to customers or failing to put customers' deposits in trust funds as required by law. Because of the high amount of money involved, the charges were felonies.

Under the terms of his probation, Anderson cannot start another travel business, but can work as a travel consultant for another registered seller of travel, as long as his job does not include handling of funds.
