Delta Vacations' 2015 bookings to the Dominican Republic
from key Delta markets of Atlanta, Detroit, New York and Salt Lake City to the
Dominican Republic have increased on average by 50% year-over-year, according
to Karen Kammer, director of Caribbean product development.
Bookings through other cities, including Boston, Indianapolis
and San Francisco, also are up over 2014 results.
Booked room nights in the D.R. jumped more than 20%,
propelled by growth in Punta Cana and La Romana as well as in the Samana
region.
Demand also has grown for adults-only resorts with 2015
bookings up 40% year-over-year, according to Kammer. Group business jumped 20%.
Delta Vacations attributed much of the growth to its
hospitality partners, including AMResorts, Bahia Principe, Barcelo, Iberostar
and Riu. Kammer noted that the D.R. "continues to attract investment from
leading resorts that continually refine and enhance their product offerings to
a variety of travelers."
An increase in Delta's service to the D.R. between March
2015 and February 2016 also was a factor in Delta Vacations' success in the
destination, according to Kammer.
Delta Vacations noted a rapid increase in D.R. bookings last year, too.
