Journey Beyond, an Australian tour operator specializing in rail itineraries, has acquired New Zealand-based Grand Pacific Tours.
The acquisition is the company's first outside of Australia. Grand Pacific is a coach touring company, and it will join Journey Beyond's portfolio in September.
Journey Beyond CEO Chris Tallent said the addition "marks an exciting next phase of growth."
The acquisition will complement Journey Beyond's collection of overnight rail tours, the operator said. Grand Pacific operates two styles of coach travel: small groups of up to 20 travelers and midsize groups of up to 32 passengers.
Founder and managing director Peter Harding will remain with Grand Pacific as executive general manager. General manager Stacia Morris and other Grand Pacific team members will join Journey Beyond.
