Tour operator pull kills Virginia bond bill

RICHMOND, Va. -- Lobbying by National Tour Association members in the state was credited with derailing a bill that caused an outcry among tour operators.

The bill, the Virginia Travel Agency Act, would have required tour operators doing business in the state to obtain a bond or letter of credit of up to $50,000 and create escrow accounts of up to $25,000.

Criticism by tour operators caused Virginia General Assembly Delegate Floyd Miles (D-74th) to pull the bill.
