Xanterra Parks & Resorts has agreed to acquire walking-tour operator CW Adventures (formerly Country Walkers).
The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
In the last 15 months, Xanterra has acquired VBT Bicycling and Walking Vacations and Austin Adventures. CW Adventures will be operated as a division of VBT and will maintain its current management.
The 35-year-old CW Adventures is based in Waterbury, Vt., and offers active travel itineraries on five continents. Trips include guided and self-guided walking and biking adventures, safaris, family adventures and private vacations.
CW Adventures had been a division of Peak Adventure Travel Group, an Australian travel company.
In addition to its recent adventure operator acquisitions, Xanterra added three all-suite yachts to its Windstar Cruises fleet in February 2013. Xanterra acquired Windstar in 2011.
In December 2012, Xanterra acquired the Grand Hotel in Tusayan, Ariz., rounding out its other Grand Canyon offerings, including lodging and hospitality facilities in the park as well as the historic Grand Canyon Railway, which it acquired in 2007.
Greenwood, Colo.-based Xanterra operates lodges, restaurants, gift shops, tours and activities in numerous state and national parks.
