WASHINGTON -- ARC has placed on the back burner an idea to give
travel agencies the option of having a manager who passed an ARC
test instead of a person with two years of managerial experience.
The purpose would be to give agency owners an alternative if
they have a hard time finding a managerial qualifier with the
requisite experience. The idea was floated by ARC last fall, "and
we heard from a couple of agents who thought it was a good idea,
but nothing is being developed now," said an ARC spokesman.
He said ARC is concentrating on the current program requiring
new agencies to have an employee who passed the Certified ARC
Specialist test. This replaces the requirement for new agencies to
have an employee with one year of full-time ticketing
experience.
