ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Agents should book their clients' winter holiday travel in August to ensure they get the best prices, according to Ed Perkins, ASTA's consumer advocate.

"While summer temperatures can make the holidays seem very distant, some of the best deals for holiday travel are offered during the waning days of summer," said Perkins. The advice was supported by an ASTA survey last year showing that 78.9% of agents advised clients to book holiday travel before September, while 10.1% and 1.9% suggested booking during and after September, respectively.

Perkins was named the Society's consumer advocate earlier this summer.
