Travel Leaders Group plans to align subsidiaries Protravel
and Tzell under a single brand, according to a memo to travel advisors from CEO
J.D. O’Hara.
“This strategic realignment is the result of a series of
planning sessions amongst the Protravel and Tzell leadership teams,” according
to O’Hara. “They have been hard at work constructing plans to enhance our
service and support to you, strengthen our competitive position and jumpstart
your recovery when travel rebounds.”
Travel Leaders said it hasn’t decided what brand name would
emerge after a realignment.
“We are having internal discussions with our advisors about
aligning Tzell Travel Group and Protravel International under a unified
operating division within our company, leveraging the expertise, programs,
service and support teams of both organizations. For now, it is business as
usual. As our plans develop, we will keep you informed,” O’Hara said in a statement
to Travel Weekly.
O’Hara indicated that current senior vice president and
general manager of strategic partnerships Angie Licea would head the combined
Protravel and Tzell. Licea joined Travel Leaders in 2012 and has served as head of business operations and
technology development for Travel Leaders Corporate, according to O’Hara. She also
has worked for US Airways and American Express/Rosenbluth International during
her 30-year career.
Travel Leaders Group did not indicate when the integration
would take place. “For now, our current business units will remain in place and
we will conduct business as usual,” according to O’Hara.
Travel Leaders last week said that it would unify Travel Leaders Corporate and Altour into one unit under the Altour name.
