ARC said U.S. travel agencies sold $94.8 billion in
airline tickets in 2018, up 7.1% from the $88.5 billion sold the year prior.
ARC sales include traditional agencies and OTAs.
Agencies settled 295.5 million passenger trips, up nearly 3% from 287.7
million passenger trips in 2017.
While the number of domestic trips increased less than 1%,
the number of international passenger trips increased 7.3%, ARC said.
Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) sales, mainly for
upgraded seats, was $78 million in 2018, a 2% increase. The number of EMD
transactions fell 1.5%.
