RICHMOND, Va. -- World Access Inc., a 17-year-old travel assistance
and insurance firm with 1999 sales of more than $117 million, was
acquired this week by the European Elmonda Group.
Terms of the acquisition were not released.
A provider of third-party administration, customer service,
claims processing and assistance service, World Access will
continue to operate under its own name and no consolidation is
planned, Elmonda announced.
World Access has subsidiaries in the U.S., Canada, Singapore and
the U.K. Elmonda is a joint venture of the Swiss Elvia Travel
Insurance and the French Mondial Assistance, and had 1999 premiums
of $650 million.
