Amadeus will no longer develop its Amadeus One multi-GDS desktop, saying that the needs of its corporate travel agency customers have changed since 2009, when the project launched.
Five years ago, airlines were seeking to shift costs to GDSs and agencies, and threatened to withhold content if a deal could not be reached. A multi-source solution would protect agencies if their GDS vendor no longer offered an airline’s content.
The distribution landscape has changed. The integration of content from multiple sources at the point of sale is no longer critical, Amadeus said.
“Today, travel management companies are telling us that they are more confident that distribution will remain at parity,” Amadeus said in a statement.
According to Amadeus, tools and workflows that resulted from the development of Amadeus One will be integrated into its web-based Amadeus Selling Platform Connect.
Going forward, Amadeus said it will focus strategy and development resources on “traveler-centric” trip-management solutions.
