Amadeus said Thursday its Meta Price web
services solution has been selected by Bezurk.com, an
Asia-Pacific travel search engine, to help improve retrieval of air
carrier flight and price information.
The company said in
a statement that the search system which will pull fare information
directly from Amadeus own database of flight information, rather
than from airline Web sites will speed up processing and help
insure lowest current fares.
According to
Amadeus, PhoCusWright has predicted that by 2008, some 20% of all
Asia-Pacific travel will be booked online, which is nearly double
the 12% that online bookings accounted for in that region in
2006.
Consumers, Amadeus
noted, are turning more often to search engines that allow direct
price comparisons on the routes they are traveling.
Gillian Gibson,
vice president of the Multinational Customer Group for Amadeus,
said the travel industry is rapidly adopting new technologies, and
the company hopes to become a key driver in that
process.
Bezurk.com is
managed by former executives from Yahoo, InterContinental Hotels
Group and Priceline.
