Hotels.com has introduced Hotels.com Concierge, available on
iOS on its smartphone application. The service enables users to book
transportation, food delivery, reservations and activities from the Hotels.com app.
The service is powered by the Button Marketplace, a commerce
platform that enables consumers to request the products and services of its
partners via the Hotels.com app.
Currently, app users can access transportation through Uber;
restaurant reservations through OpenTable in more than 20 countries, including the U.S.;
food delivery through Delivery.com in the U.S. and Hungryhouse in the U.K.; and
tours/activities through Groupon in the U.S. and U.K.
Hotels.com said its partners within Hotels.com Concierge are
growing, and ticketing is coming soon.
Customers will see local services appear in the Hotels.com
app the day their hotel stay starts, according to Hotels.com.
Hotels.com research shows that 46% of travelers want a
mobile concierge service when they're traveling, according to a poll the company
commissioned that had over 8,000 respondents from 28 countries. Their top
requests were the ability to make restaurant reservations, get directions and
acquire tickets to tourist attractions.
"Mobile is changing the way people travel, and at the
forefront of that we're constantly innovating and investing in mobile, to offer
more than just hotel bookings," Daniel Craig, senior director of mobile at
Hotels.com, said in a statement. "We want to make our customers' lives
easier before, during and after their trip."
