FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- InteleTravel, a network here that claims
some 90,000 home-based travel agents, opened a Web site that
enables members to research, book and receive confirmations for
vacation packages on line.
Members can book packages from preferred suppliers Delta
Vacations, Continental Airlines Vacations and Marriott Villa
Vacations via a password-protected link to the agent-only section
of the site, located at www.inteletravel.com, according to Jim Tolzien,
president and chief operating officer.
The agent-only section enables home-based agents to book the
packages without faxes and telephones, Tolzien said. In addition,
members can research and request reservations for cruise industry
products at the site.
"This provides the first on-line booking access for home-based
agents by a retail travel agency," Tolzien said. "Obviously, we
want to provide InteleTravel agents with the best service and
support possible."
He said the firm plans to roll out an enhanced version of the
Web site within 90 days. It will include air, hotel and car
reservations through Internet Travel Network's booking engine. Only
InteleTravel members will be able to book air, hotel and car
rentals on line, Tolzien said.
Meanwhile, InteleTravel reduced its registration fee to $149 --
down from $495 -- for the next 5,000 members who register on line.
Potential members can fill out an application on the site.
The site's home page asks browsers if they would like to:
"travel at industry discounts; earn commissions on every trip you
book; supplement your income on a monthly basis, and travel to
destinations you never thought possible?" In addition, the site
enables consumers to research InteleTravel, find out about
educational opportunities and e-mail InteleTravel representatives
with questions or comments.
