REDMOND, Wash. -- Microsoft's new version of its on-line travel
service, Expedia, includes mapping services, vacation packages, a
bed-and-breakfast directory and Amtrak schedules and ticketing.
Microsoft also renamed Expedia to become Expedia.com

The vacation packages are made available through a partnership
with Online Vacation Mall. The B&B directory services is
provided through Inns&Outs, with more than 20,000 properties in
the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. Expedia also introduced
Worldwide Links, a listing of more than 10,000 travel-related Web
sites.
Elsewhere at Microsoft, Pegasus Systems was signed to provide
hotel processing services for the Microsoft Travel Technologies
platform. The technology is currently used by Northwest,
Continental and American Express Interactive, which offers a
private-label corporate booking product.
