Booking Holdings has activated a new loyalty benefit for its
online restaurant reservations platform OpenTable, allowing diners to redeem
their OpenTable Dining Points for hotel savings on metasearch engine Kayak.
OpenTable Dining Points are earned by making and honoring
reservations at participating restaurants. The points can then be redeemed for
Dining Rewards, which allow diners to enjoy savings at more than 20,000
OpenTable restaurants. Rewards can also be put toward Amazon gift cards and, on
occasion, charitable donations.
Under the new activation, Dining Points can now also be used
to save between $20 to $200 at over 400,000 participating hotels on Kayak. The
benefit is in effect for U.S. users with over 2,000 Dining Points.
According to Joseph Essas, chief technology officer at
OpenTable, the change is "the first of several additional ways that
OpenTable users will be able to redeem their Dining Points," with more
Dining Rewards options set to roll out shortly.
