A Sabre system outage early Friday afternoon knocked out the
GDS's booking capabilities and affected airlines that use Sabre's passenger-management solutions.
However, the problem had been fixed by 1:30 p.m. EDT,
according to a Sabre tweet.
"Reports from customers, agents and airports confirm
all systems back online. We apologize for interruptions to weekend travel
plans!" the company said.
In a tweet approximately 45 minutes before that one, Sabre
reported that the outage had impacted GDS bookings as well as its airline technology, which facilitates flight operations, crew management and maintenance
planning.
The delay affected multiple airlines, including American, Alaska and Hawaiian. "The issue was resolved in less than an hour and resulted in 15 flight delays. The impact to those flights was between 5 and 15 minutes,” an Alaska spokesperson said.
The outage, as of 12:45 p.m., had been going on over "this
past hour," Sabre said.
The company declined to immediately elaborate on the outage
or what caused it, in an email to Travel Weekly on Friday afternoon.
