Sabre plans to launch in late November "the world's first B2B application store for the travel industry."
Called the Sabre Red App Centre, the e-marketplace will connect third-party technology developers with travel agencies via the company's Sabre Red agent desktop.
"Travel buyers will be able to easily shop for a wide range of applications that best meet their needs and then quickly deploy those applications down to the individual user," Sabre said.
The Red App Centre provides current Sabre authorized developers a marketplace to promote and sell their products to Sabre GDS users globally, a business model that will help attract new developers, Sabre said.
Developers will receive a toolkit to create the Red Apps. In the fourth quarter, Sabre said it will host a "challenge" for developers to compete to build Red Apps.
