Shake-up in Uber's C-suite

Uber said Friday that two executives, COO Barney Harford and chief marketing officer Rebecca Messina, are leaving the company.

In connection with the departures, Andrew Macdonald has been promoted to senior vice president of global rides, overseeing teams that manage the global rides business, community operations, safety and insurance, and Uber for Business.

Jason Droege, who leads the Uber Eats business, will continue to lead Uber Eats but will report directly to the CEO along with Andrew Macdonald as co-managers of the core platform business segment.

Harford will stay until July to help with transition, Uber said.

Jill Hazelbaker, who currently oversees policy and communications, will assume responsibility for marketing.

The ride-hailing company last week had its first financial report as a public company, reporting $1 billion in losses despite a 20% increase in revenue. Uber's IPO on May 10 was poorly received by Wall Street, but the stock has rebounded from an initial plunge to trade around its IPO price of $45.
