ATLANTA -- Worldspan introduced Worldspan Fare by Rule, which the
GDS company said will enable travel agency subscribers worldwide to
receive negotiated-fare data more quickly and accurately. Galileo
introduced a similar solution earlier this year.
Worldspan said the system gives airlines more control, enabling
them to file corporate-contract fares, and the rules that apply to
them, through the Airline Tariff Publishing Co. -- the medium in
which public fares are loaded.
Worldspan said it is trying to eliminate the loading of contract
fares at the GDS level and reduce the paper trail, as some
negotiated fares don't ever get loaded in the system.
So far, the solution has been adopted by Delta, Northwest and
Continental.
