Recap, cruise chat: what's now, what's next, Nov. 2019

More than 1,200 tweets flew back and forth during (and just after) Travel Weekly's annual cruise-themed Twitter chat, which was held Thursday in conjunction with CruiseWorld.

This chat was sponsored by Windstar Cruises.

The theme: "Cruising, what's now, what's next" enabled participants to tweet in about innovations and trends in the cruise industry today, as well as what's coming up in 2020 and beyond.

It wasn't too hard to find enthusiastic participants. Many of our co-hosts and top participants had the term "cruise" in their handle:, @popularcruising, @cruisecritic, @cruiselog, @cruise_curator, @cruisitude. (One of our top contributors was, although the name is a reference to its women-travel magazine, not to the top cruise sales season).

Of course there was food and drink (and Aperol spritzes)

As far as the bells and whistles of the latest expedition-style cruise ships, well.

Luxury and river lines were well represented, as were discussions about environmental and sustainable actions and future trends like wellness.

And cheers to many of the travel pros who tweeted with us, including (but not limited to) @avoyatravel @tzelltravel @nexionllc @khmtravel @vwt_travel and @travelexpertsnc.
