Italian authorities have suspended the search for survivors in the submerged sections of the wrecked Costa Concordia, according to reports.
The ship collided with rocks off the Italian island of Giglio on Jan. 13. Sixteen people remain unaccounted for, and 16 are confirmed dead.
Authorities said that searches would continue in parts of the ship that remain above water.
Costa Cruises has contracted with Smit Salvage of Rotterdam, Netherlands, to recover the 500,000 gallons of fuel inside the crippled ship. That process, which has not begun, is expected to take about a month, depending on sea and weather conditions.
