AIRTRAN has announced several new nonstop
flights to Las Vegas. As of last week, the low-fare carrier now
offers nonstop service four time a week from Bloomington/Normal,
Ill.; three times a week from Rochester, N.Y.; three times a week
from Dayton, Ohio; four times a week from Moline/Quad Cities, Ill.;
four times a week from Flint, Mich.; three times a week from
Akron/Canton, Ohio; and daily from Indianapolis. Passengers on the
first flights last week were treated to live performances by an
Elvis impersonator prior to boarding and during the flight and were
given playing cards in honor of the new service.
FOLLOWING A
TRADITION started in New York, San Francisco and Chicago,
Las Vegas will hold its first Restaurant Week from Sept. 2 through
8. During the week, participating Las Vegas restaurants will offer
special three-course menus for $50.07 per person. Celebrity chefs
expected to participate include Tom Colicchio, Michael Mina,
Bradley Ogden, Wolfgang Puck and Carla Pellegrino: Tom Colicchio
will conduct a wine-pairing dinner at Craftsteak on Sept. 4, and
Michael Mina will host a Michael Mina Cookbook Dinner at NOBHILL on
Sept. 5. A portion of the proceeds from Restaurant Week will go to
Las Vegas-based Three Square, a nonprofit organization that cooks
and distributes meals to shelters, churches and social service

Casino have teamed up and announced a new incentive. The travel

CORTEZ Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas has
announced a $20 million renovation, to be completed by the end of
2007. Renovations include 300 remodeled rooms; new restaurants,
lounges, and nightclubs; a $500,000 air filtration system; and a
new entrance featuring a classic 1940s neon sign that showcases
designs and colors nearly identical to the property's original
signage. Additional renovations include remodeling the hotel's
Ogden Tower to feature 100 luxury hotel rooms, a business center, a
fitness center and a new swimming pool.
