Vinyl Room, inspired by intimate 1970s Japanese listening bars, will open on the top floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas in August.

The music-forward venue, where vinyl and high-quality audio are the stars, is a partnership of Live Nation and MGM Resorts International. It replaces the Foundation Room, which closed last year.

"We wanted to create a space that feels more connected to music and community," said Kurt Melien, president of Live Nation Las Vegas. "The inspiration from 1970s Japanese listening lounges was a natural fit because those spaces were built around the experience of really listening to music, spending time with other music lovers and enjoying the atmosphere that celebrates the music."

Vinyl Room will offer a view of the Strip from Mandalay Bay's 63rd floor.

"When people come to Vegas, they are looking to have a night out. If you aren't a fan of nightclubs with [electronic dance music], there are limited options for you," Melien said. "Vinyl Room offers a completely different experience. This is a place where you can enjoy a night with your friends, listen to amazing music and appreciate the best of Las Vegas."

In addition to the hi-fidelity sound experience and late-night entertainment, Vinyl Room will have music-themed drinks and an Asian-inspired menu.

Cocktails will be inspired by iconic songs, including the rum-based Golden Years and vodka-based House of the Rising Sun. The shared-plates menu will include sushi tots, rice formed into crispy "tater tots" and topped with fresh tuna; chili crunch chicken wings; and the Japanese dessert taiyaki.

The lounge will feature music memorabilia and thousands of records. The displayed records will celebrate the city's legacy as an entertainment destination and feature artists who've performed in Las Vegas, such as Aerosmith, who had a three-year "Deuces Are Wild" residency in the city.

"I spend a lot of time on the south end of the Strip, and Vinyl Room is going to be the perfect complement before or after a show at T-Mobile Arena or Allegiant Stadium," Melien said. "Whether you're starting your night or looking for a nightcap after a concert, it's a place where music continues to be part of the experience."

Vinyl Room will open at 4 p.m. daily. Building on the legacy of the Foundation Room, Vinyl Room will offer membership options, which include access to benefits such as a dedicated members' room and exclusive curated events.
