The Grand Hyatt Baha Mar is now providing on-site Covid-19 testing upon arrival and departure, with both RT-PCR and rapid antigen tests available at the Nassau resort complex.

Baha Mar began its phased reopening process in December, with the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar being the resort's first hotel to resume operations. Sister properties the Rosewood Baha Mar and SLS Baha Mar are expected to reopen sometime this year.

Under Baha Mar's Covid-19 protocols, the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar requires that all guests, regardless of length of stay, take an on-site rapid antigen test upon arrival.

After getting tested, arriving guests proceed to check-in and are brought to their rooms. Results from the rapid antigen tests are delivered in 60 minutes or less.

Once guests receive confirmation of a negative test result, they are given a wristband and are permitted to move about the rest of the resort.

If the arrival test is positive, guests must take an RT-PCR test and is advised to stay in their room until those results are available, usually within six hours or less. If the RT-PCR test is also positive, a guest will have the option to quarantine or fly home private or via air ambulance, in accordance with government protocols.

Additionally, guests staying at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar five days or longer are required to take a second rapid antigen test, in line with Bahamian travel requirements.

Testing is also available to guests prior to departure.

"Many travelers are required to provide a negative Covid-19 test result when arriving home, and our goal is to make that process as seamless as possible," Grand Hyatt Baha Mar general manager Ulrich Samietz said in a statement.

An RT-PCR test at the property costs $134.40 per person; a rapid antigen test costs $16.80 per person.

On-site testing appointments at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar can be made via an online portal, with the property recommending appointments be made at least 24 hours in advance.

All on-site testing is conducted by medical professionals.

As part of a newly launched "Safe Travels" promotion, guests staying at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar a minimum of three nights can receive two complimentary onsite RT-PCR Covid-19 tests on the day of their departure, with the option to purchase additional RT-PCR tests at a discounted rate of $125 per person (plus tax).

Rates for the Safe Travels package start at $279 per night.

On-site Covid-19 testing is becoming an increasingly common amenity at hotels and resorts, as hospitality operators seek to streamline the testing process for travelers and provide them with additional peace of mind.
