Two men have been charged in the killing of a 49-year-old German man in Tobago.

Peter Taut’s body was discovered Nov. 1 in a shallow grave at the back of his house in the Bacolet neighborhood along the island’s southern coast, according to the Trinidad & Tobago Express.

Bacolet is the same neighborhood where a British couple was brutally attacked by machete on Aug. 1. In that case, Tobago police have since charged a 25-year-old man with two counts of attempted murder.

An autopsy on Taut revealed he died as a result of asphxia due to blunt trauma.

Taut had lived on Tobago for five years. His house was up for sale and he was planning to return to Germany. Police theorize that the murder was the result of a land deal gone sour.
