The Haiti Ministry of Tourism has launched the
country's first television advertising campaign, aimed at
attracting U.S. travelers.
Developed in partnership with Cablevision, the
campaign features 30-second spots and a 24/7 destination
channel, "Haiti: Experience It!," on Cablevision's channel 650.
TV spots are targeted at the Haitian diaspora as
well as mainstream leisure travelers. Ads will air
in New York City's tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut).
"Haiti is taking a big step toward
recapturing its place as one of the leading destinations in the
Caribbean," said Stephanie Balmir-Villedrouin, Haiti's minister of tourism and
creative industries.
"Haiti: Experience It!" enables viewers to
search from a library of videos with information on attractions, hotels, tour
guides, events and beaches.
The ad campaign will run through June, but
Villedrouin said that "this is just the beginning."
Just as behind every
mountain there are more mountains in Haiti, so too will our marketing efforts
continue to grow and surpass the achievements to date," she said.
