Phase 1 of Jungle Bay resort in Soufriere, Dominica, is set to open June 1 with 24 of a planned 60 villas.
The wellness-oriented resort will offer adventure fitness boot camps, yoga retreats, drumming and cooking classes, waterfall excursions and a spa with 14 treatment studios, all set within gardens, a fruit orchard and a banana plantation.
A variety of package plans will be available, including jungle adventure, wedding, honeymoon, diving and wellness retreats.
The villas are available in two floor plans, one of 800 square feet and the smaller with 400 square feet. Each has bamboo furnishings, showers with rainshower heads, a patio, air conditioning and ceiling fans powered by solar panels.
The original Jungle Bay, which had 35 cottages overlooking the Atlantic in southeastern Dominica, was destroyed by Hurricane Erika in 2015.
The new and expanded resort on the southwestern Caribbean coast overlooks a marine reserve.
Starting rates are $305 per person, per night through July; from $325 from Aug. 1 to Dec. 18 and from $365 from Dec. 19 to Jan. 4.
