Tropical Storm Nicole is drenching the Bahamas and South Florida, is headed up the East Coast and has caused storm warnings throughout the Caribbean.

WSVN News in Miami reported Wednesday that 26 flights were canceled at Miami International Airport as Tropical Storm Nicole moved near southern Florida. At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, one flight was canceled Wednesday morning.

Heavy rain is expected in the Cayman Islands and parts of Cuba and Jamaica and could cause flash floods and mudslides, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Schools are closed in Jamaica and some secondary roads have washed out.
