I visited Nevis for the first time last summer, and between the potent rum punches, golden beaches and hawksbill turtle sightings, I fell in love with the tiny island.
Just a 15-minute ferry ride from St. Kitts, the island is defined by the majestic Nevis Peak and centuries-old sites. Summer in Nevis also brings a vibrant lineup of culinary and cultural festivals, alongside exclusive hotel deals that make a getaway irresistible. With that in mind, here are a few reasons why you should keep Nevis on your radar this summer.
Nevis Mango Festival
Known as the "Mango Capital of the Caribbean," Nevis is home to 44 distinct varieties of mangos, which typically ripen during the peak summer season. Naturally, one of the biggest summer events on the island is the Nevis Mango Festival, held July 2 to 5. The festival returns for its 12th year, offering a delicious itinerary headlined by Food Network star and "Top Chef" finalist chef Eric Adjepong.
The four-day celebration kicks off with Nevis Goes Mango, an island-wide culinary trail of mango-infused dishes and cocktails. High-profile events include an intimate supper club at the Four Seasons Resort Nevis and a hands-on cooking masterclass where guests can hone their skills alongside chef Adjepong.
For a more laid-back vibe, Mango Mania offers family-friendly fun like mango tug-of-war and mixology competitions, while the Pinney's Beach Bar Crawl and the Passport Food Tour invite visitors to explore the island's vibrant local bar scene. The festival culminates in the signature For the Love of Mangoes event, featuring a high-stakes cooking competition and a star-lit concert.

Beyond the beach: Culinary, conservation and cultural events
Outside of the flagship Mango Festival, summer events in Nevis are a vibrant mix of culture and conservation. The Four Seasons Nevis hosts a family-friendly Sea Turtle Week (July 20 to 26), where guests can participate in vital nesting patrols and educational sessions. Foodies should mark their calendars for St. Kitts-Nevis Culinary Month in July, a showcase of local flavors at participating restaurants and hotels.
The energy peaks with the Nevis Culturama Festival in late July, a grand celebration of heritage featuring colorful masquerades and street parades. Finally, the Nevis Marathon and Running Festival in early September invites athletes to tackle scenic, volcanic routes, rounding out a season of island experiences.
The Four Seasons Nevis offers exclusive summer rates
One of the island's premier resorts, the Four Seasons Nevis, is rolling out its summer specials for guests wanting to experience the seasonal festivities. Debuting this summer, the Island Breakaway program, offered June 1 to Oct. 31, provides guests with curated amenities at an exclusive rate. Guests can enjoy discounted prix-fixe dining, newly priced pool and beach dining and a continental breakfast for $20.
The rates extend to wellness amenities. Throughout the summer, early birds can enjoy an 80-minute deep tissue or Swedish massage for $235, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Another perk is the wellness pass, which includes access to three classes: yoga, sound bath and pilates for $130. Active travelers can benefit from flat-rate unlimited golf ($200) or tennis and pickleball ($100) with equipment included. The Island Breakaway program includes complimentary airport transfers, as well.
As of May 19, the resort is also offering exclusive summer rates to Caribbean residents, starting at $395. The resident promotion includes 10% savings on spa treatments, cabana rentals, dining and retail, and is valid through October.
