Celebrity Xcel, the upcoming ship from Celebrity Cruises, will set sail a bit earlier than initially scheduled, with a four-night preview sailing beginning Nov. 9, the line confirmed.
The departure will precede the Xcel's five-night maiden voyage from Fort Lauderdale Nov. 18, a press official said. The ship's construction is ahead of schedule, according to a report from Cruise Industry News, which cited a statement Celebrity sent to booked guests.
The four-night trip will embark from Port Everglades on Nov. 9, sailing to Cozumel. Guests currently booked for Nov. 18 have the option to transfer their booking to the earlier sailing, Cruise Industry News reported. The Nov. 18 sailing will still host the inaugural events.
"We understand that for some guests, it's important to be the first onboard, and for others, being part of the inaugural celebrations is what matters most," Celebrity wrote to guests, according to Cruise Industry News.
Celebrity Xcel will be Celebrity's fifth Edge-class ship and will offer new dining and entertainment experiences, including a brunch restaurant announced this week.
