Celebrity Cruises wants the public's input about what experiences will await guests on the Celebrity Xcel, the line's fifth Edge-class ship. The Xcel is scheduled to debut in November.
Through online polls and in-person events, the public will have their say on the ship's design and its culinary and entertainment offerings. Celebrity is calling this a "Dream Makers" initiative, and people interested in participating are invited to sign up online.
Celebrity chief marketing and product officer Michael Scheiner said, "We want to ensure our guests love our products and experiences, so involving them in the process to perfect Celebrity Xcel was a great way to achieve this."
Celebrity said participants will choose textiles and have a say about interior design elements; pick their favorite dishes and beverages; select their favorite dining concepts; provide input on headline shows, props and costumes; and select playlists and partake in selections to appoint entertainment positions.
The line says there are seven onboard experiences yet to be revealed on the Xcel, and the Dream Makers will have a say about what they will be.
The Xcel reached a milestone on Jan. 18, when the ship was floated out of drydock at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The float-out ceremony celebrated the completion of the ship's exterior.
The Xcel will cruise from Fort Lauderdale in its inaugural season, sailing seven-night Caribbean itineraries. In summer 2026, the Xcel will sail seven- to 11-night cruises out of Barcelona and Athens, including new overnight stays in Madeira, Portugal.
