One of Gwen Stefani's first top hits might have been "Just a Girl," but later this month she'll be more than that -- a godmother.
Carnival Cruise Line has named the cultural icon and three-time Grammy Award winner as godmother of the Carnival Jubilee, which will be named in Galveston, Texas, on Saturday, Feb. 24.
Stefani was the frontwoman of rock band No Doubt with hits like "Spiderwebs" and "Don't Speak" in the mid-1990s. She later became a multi-platinum solo artist, with "Hollaback Girl" as one of her biggest hits, and has since appeared for seven seasons on NBC series "The Voice."
Stefani's philanthropic work includes supporting Cure 4 The Kids Foundation, a nonprofit and medical facility providing medical care to children battling cancer and rare diseases.
"She has demonstrated her commitment to our Carnival values, including promoting diversity and inclusion, supporting charitable causes, being a leader in her field, and of course, having fun," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
The Jubilee began sailing in late December out of Galveston, where it will homeport year-round sailing seven-day cruises. The ship has a max capacity for 6,500 guests and is the third of the line's Excel class.
