Brazilian chef Janaina Torres will serve as godmother of the Celebrity Xcel at its christening ceremony Nov. 16.
Torres was named the world's best female chef last year by restaurant awards 50 Best and co-owns the restaurant A Casa do Porco in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Celebrity Cruises president Laura Hodges Bethge called Torres a culinary trailblazer, and the cruise line said it shares her passion for authentic and elevated cuisine.
The Celebrity Xcel is the fifth Edge-class ship. The Eden dining venue will be transformed into a new restaurant called Mosaic, which will serve food to match the ship's destinations.
