MSC Group plans to open a new North American headquarters in downtown Miami for its cruise and cargo divisions.

MSC Group will put MSC Cruises, Explora Journeys and MSC Cargo under one roof when moving into a 130,000-square-foot office space with 250 employees serving the three brands.

MSC Cargo's North American headquarters is in New York City and will continue to be. But the division has had an office in Miami-Dade for more than 25 years.

Meanwhile, MSC is building a new four-story cruise terminal at PortMiami capable of accommodating 36,000 passenger movements per day and three ships at once. It is expected to open this year.

MSC, the largest cruise brand in Europe, has made a significant investment in the U.S. market. MSC Cruises began sailing cruises out of New York year-round last spring, and this winter is sailing five ships in the U.S., a high-water mark for the line.

And, MSC will begin sailing from Galveston in 2025 and is negotiating the construction of a terminal at the Texas port.

MSC Group launched its luxury cruise line, Explora Journeys, last year.

Clarification: MSC Cargo has maintained an office in Miami for 25 years, but its North America headquarters is in New York City.
