Norwegian Cruise Line's new cruise terminal in Philadelphia is officially open.
The city's PhilaPort and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings held a ribbon-cutting on Aug. 27 to mark the occasion.
In April, NCL became the first cruise line to homeport in Philadelphia in 15 years. The opening of the cruise terminal had been scheduled for mid-April but was delayed due to winter weather that impacted construction progress.
In the interim, check-in for cruises had been at an airport hotel and screenings were under a tent at the pier.
The Norwegian Pearl is currently calling Philadelphia home, sailing from the port through Sept. 26, then from November through April, sailing a mix of Canada/New England, Bermuda and Caribbean cruises.
The Norwegian Gem will do seven-day Bermuda and Atlantic Coast cruises from Philadelphia next summer.
