Norwegian Cruise Line has altered its weekly itinerary in Hawaii to drop two ports on the Big Island, where a volcanic eruption of the Kilauea volcano shows no sign of flagging.

Since the volcano first erupted on May 3, Norwegian has altered itineraries on an ad hoc basis. It has now set a new itinerary for the Pride of America.

Until further notice, the ship will not call in Hilo and Kona on the Big Island. The new schedule calls for the ship to depart Saturdays from Honolulu, visit Kahului and Lahaina on Maui on Mondays and Wednesdays, then go to Nawiliwili on Kauai on Thursdays before returning to Honolulu on Saturday morning.

"Hawaii is an incredible destination and we are proud to have faithfully visited its ports for the last 14 years," Norwegian said in a statement. "We will continue to monitor the situation and hope to return to Hilo and Kona again as soon as possible."
