NEW YORK -- Oceania Cruises will launch its own brand,
Aquamar Spa and Vitality Centers, transitioning away from its decade-long
relationship with Canyon Ranch to operate its shipboard spas.
The initiative goes beyond the spas and fitness centers and
includes "vitality" cuisine and shore excursions focused on
nutrition, fitness and rejuvenation, according to James Rodriguez, Oceania's executive
vice president of sales and marketing, who made the announcement Monday at
Conde Nast Traveler's Points of View event.
The new spa concept will launch Dec. 7 on the Riviera, then
roll out on Nautica and Sirena on Dec. 9, Regatta on Jan. 8, Insignia on Jan.
10 and Marina on Jan. 24.
Travel advisors can book services for clients beginning 30 to
seven days prior to March 1 sailings. Timothy Rubacky, Oceania's head of public
relations, said the booking window may be elongated for later sailings.
According to a sheet of "frequently asked questions"
prepared by the line, the decision to replace Canyon Ranch is "the first
step in creating a holistic, next-generation approach to health and wellness. ...
The experience is no longer centered on selling spa treatments, but rather
takes a holistic view of wellness that incorporates nourishing body and soul
through cuisine, fitness and exercise, relaxation and rejuvenation, discoveries
ashore and enrichment."
Last week, sister brand Regent Seven Seas Cruises unveiled a
similar initiative, launching its own spa brand, Serene, and parting ways with
Canyon Ranch.
Aquamar will have a Spa Terrace with a pool, which will be complimentary
for guests in Concierge staterooms and above. Other guests can purchase daily
passes.
Oceania Club benefits for the spa will be available per ship
upon implementation of Aquamar, according to the guest's Oceania Club level:
Gold: Two complimentary spa treatment credits up to $150
each
Platinum: Two complimentary spa treatment credits up to $150
each
Diamond: Two complimentary spa treatment credits up to $200 each
President's Circle: Two complimentary spa treatment credits
up to $200 each.
Rubacky said that "most" current Canyon Ranch
personnel will be offered an opportunity to stay with Aquamar.
