PHOTOS: Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas unveiled

Travel Weekly cruise editor Andrea Zelinski is aboard Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas for a preview cruise ahead of the ship's maiden voyage from Miami on Jan. 27.

The Icon is the the world's largest ship at 250,800 gross tons and accommodates 5,610 passengers at double occupancy, with a maximum occupancy exceeding 7,500.

Royal Caribbean is touting the Icon as the ultimate family vacation, giving guests a resort experience at sea.

Following its maiden voyage, the Icon will sail weeklong Caribbean voyages roundtrip from Miami.

Surfside, Royal Caribbean's first neighborhood for young families, is at the aft of the Icon. It is complete with a pool, splash areas, beach-themed carousel, playscape, arcade and multiple eateries.

The new Thrill Island concept takes on a shipwrecked vibe while sporting the Category 6 waterpark.

Royal Caribbean's first adults-only neighborhood, The Hideaway, is tucked away at the aft of the Icon and includes several Jacuzzis, an infinity pool with large loungers and a bar.

Royal Caribbean has kept its Central Park neighborhood on the Icon, injecting the space with bright colors. The corridor is lined with places to eat, drink and shop.
