Royal Caribbean International will put a second ship in the Eastern Mediterranean this summer, with the Jewel of the Seas homeporting in Cyprus and offering cruises to the Greek islands.
Seven-day cruises will depart from Limassol, Cyprus, starting July 10 and call at Athens, Rhodes, Crete, Mykonos and Santorini.
The itineraries open for bookings on April 7 and are available to fully vaccinated adults and those under the age of 18 with negative test results.
Royal's newest ship, the Odyssey of the Seas, will launch from nearby Haifa, Israel in May, and sister line Celebrity Cruises will launch its newest vessel, the Celebrity Apex, from Athens on in June 19, on Greek islands sailings.
Both lines are also launching cruises from Caribbean ports in June, while Royal Caribbean added summer sailings from Bermuda and has been operating from Singapore on the Quantum of the Seas since December.
"We are delighted that Royal Caribbean will call Limassol its homeport for the first time ever," Savvas Perdios, the deputy minister of tourism for Cyprus, said in a statement. "This has been an ambition of ours for many years, and we are thrilled that, finally, this dream has come to fruition."
